As a Consultant for our rapidly growing business you have the ideal opportunity to develop and demonstrate your skills on leading edge projects in diverse industries. As a senior member of the project team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative and contemporary sub-systems for our customers and mentoring other less skilled project members.
Open Collaborative Technology provides IT consulting services for the design and development of large scale, mission critical Internet systems.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a person with immaculate presentation and consultative skills. You will have proven industry and development experience to lead a team in performing analysis and java development for assigned projects undertaken by Open Collaborative Technology. You must be capable of working closely in support of the Technical Architect and/or Project Manager in liaising directly with the customer and in providing mentoring and assistance to less skilled team members.
To be eligible for this role you must have solid, demonstrable experience in all of the following:
- Minimum 3 years commercial experience with java & related technologies
- Sound understanding of Weblogic, Websphere, JBoss and Tomcat , UML, UML Design Tools, WSAD, Eclipse, XML, SSL, SXL
- Application of Object Oriented analysis & design techniques (3 yrs practical)
- Relational database experience including SQL, database design (logical/physical), database administration, basic tuning skills; Oracle preferred;
- High-level written & verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with staff and customers at all levels;
- Excellent presentation & consultative skills;
- Ability to write quality documentation and able to review and evaluate peers and other consultant's documentation.
The following experience is highly desirable:
- Sun Java Development Certification;
- Industry experience in Banking & Finance, Telecommunications or Travel
- Experience using Windows 2000, NT and Unix;
- Team leading experience (min 12 months)
- Solid understanding of software testing tools
What you will do?
As a Consultant at Open Collaborative Technology, you will closely assist the Technical Architect in overall system design. Your key responsibilities will include designing sub-systems under the direction of the Technical Architect, application development of complete modules, using, but not limited to java and java related technologies; writing high quality project documentation and reviewing documentation of other less skilled team members and assisting in preparing detailed project estimates.
As a leadership role in a project team you may be required to provide hands on technical guidance and mentoring. You will assist less skilled project members by providing guidance and validating their work. A high degree of customer facing responsibilities is also key to this role.
You will possess a keen interest in harnessing technology to deliver commercial applications that break new ground. Whilst delivering imaginative and technically advanced systems you understand our primary goal is to deliver systems that meet business objectives both on time and on budget.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, your experience, hands on style and desire to make a difference will receive the support you require. This challenging role will reward a dynamic and energetic person who takes pride in their technical competence and leadership abilities and whom enjoys working with small teams that deliver big results.
